Palms & Fishes

This mural enjoys two views, above the waterline island-scapes and below the sea coral beds.
There is a unique combination of naturalistic painting and wavy graphic shapes that separate the image areas.
It was important to the home owner that the colours of the mural coordinate with the room's designer bedding and drapery.
It came as a surprise to both of us that the main colour of the sheets was actually a pale lilac / violet tone.
When the custom mixed colour was applied to the wall it was even more obvious in contrast to the pale celery base colour.
Red elements appear through out the room - kind of a tricky thing to do when the subject is tropical / under water.
Purple water with red accents?
These are not colours I would have consciously chosen for this kind of theme but they really do work.
They describe a warm tropical location that a more traditional blue/green pallet might not.
This room is full of focal points, vignettes... lots of details all around the room.
