Billy Goat & Molly Goat:
My best friends pet goats out sunning themselves on the deck.
Cute as a button when they're small but Molly seems to have developed quite the attitude when it comes to tossing those horns around.
A Bit of Reading to Pass the Time:
This illustration was in responce to an article about the ups & downs of composting. |

A
cat napping and observing
the way sunlight falls on a leather
arm chair.
Moe 1: Painting a scene that is realistic
and carfully observed is a great
exercise for understanding how something
fits into a space and for learning
what marks best describe a surface
texture.
Moe 2: Drawn from
memory and leaning towards the whimsical, this is the difference between a
cat asleep in a chair and a cat
dreaming in the afternoon sun.
It's nice to draw from imagination
or memory without worrying about
the "rules". Wonky perspective
and taking liberty with colour and
setting gives this second painting
a boyancy the first one was lacking. |

The Red Dress (right)
Life class sketch. I like this one. It's busy but not over worked.
Trouble in Toyland: a Mr. Potatoe Head wind up toy and
a miniature figurine of Donald Duck
served as models for this painting.
Donald's getting roudy on the coffee
table. "Look out Donald! You'll
wake the cat."

The Lost Golf Ball
This project started out as 2 assignments.
#1. Paint an underwater landscape. Pond on a golf course. Not very realistic, there being only one golf ball.
#2. Paint some fish. I picked a couple for their interesting shapes that I painted realistic. The third was an experiment. It's black tones were a result of printing with an actual fish. Kind of messy.
When class resumed the fallowing week we cut out those fish and pasted them on the back grounds we'd created previously.
I was really surprised how well all the diversed parts came together.
