Illustrated Cats

Lioness Experiment

For this project the lion was rendered 4 times with graphite, colored pencils and ink. The images were
then manipulated in photoshop, sometimes alone, sometimes in combination, using digital effects to
come up with many different looks and moods.

Cat Tote Suit with Handles

Snow Leopard Print
Cat Toy

Cat Tote Suit - (left top) - Graphite, Coloured Pencil
Travel with your cat and avoid embarrassing pet hair on your good travel clothes. This handy tote suit allows your pet to stroll about and have a snack. Includes sturdy handles for carrying and a clear identification sleeve.

The Cat Toy - (above) - Acrylic Paint, Magazine Collage
A cat roling around onthe floor with it's favorite toy, a multi-coloured dog doll stuffed with catnip.

Snow Leopard - (left) - Reduction Prints take a little bit of planning because the same image is printed with multiple passes, each time a little more of the original printing block is carved away. Anywhere I wanted to have the white remain untouched was then carved away from the block and then the image was printed with pink ink... Anywhere I wanted to have the pink remain untouched was then carved away from the block and then the image was printed with yellow ink... For the final pass, anywhere I wanted to have the yellow remain untouched was then carved away from the block and then the image was printed with black ink.
To give the snow leopard a more intense stare I used the eyes of a bush baby. These nocturnal primates have very large eyes, ideal for seeing in the dark. Cats have a similar expression but it usually means they are crazy with the hunting instinct.
